Bali’s Top 8 Beaches for a Pre-Wedding Photography

beaches for pre-wedding

Bali is blessed with numerous beautiful beaches. Whether it’s the alluring dark sandy beaches, rocky and rugged landscape beaches or white-sanded beaches with calm water, there’s every beach you want on this island. Some of them aren’t as easy to access, such as Uluwatu beaches, but some are just as easy as strolling into your front yard, like the beaches in Seminyak or Sanur. In this article, we’ve listed the best beaches in Bali you should go to for a pre-wedding photoshoot.

Which are the Best Beaches in Bali for Pre-wedding Photography?

In our experience, the beaches we recommend for pre-wedding photography need to have these two factors; photogenic and easy to access. We know that not everyone, especially the ladies, will appreciate walking down steep stairs with her gorgeous dress and heels that she just bought.

Check the tide before the photoshoot as a general tip, as your safety always comes first. For things to wear for a beach photoshoot, we recommend light-colored clothes that enhance the reflection on their skin and figures.

Some of the popular beaches charge for a professional photo shoot session. So make sure that you receive the receipt when paying the fee to ensure that the money goes to the village development fund.

1. Melasti Beach

This is one of the island’s best beaches for a photo shoot and it’s one of many photographers’ favorite spots in Bali for a photo session. There are so many reasons why Melasti beach sits at one of our top spots for pre-wedding photography.

One of them includes the dramatic sky-scraping stone wall, the temple gate against the white sand, the dark and contrasting Candi banter and, of course, the spectacular sunset. We can’t get enough of the sunset here, as it’s breathtaking every time. We suggest coming here during sunrise or sunset. Any wardrobe is suitable as Melasti beach is easy to reach.

2. Balangan Beach

Balangan beach is one of the more accessible beaches in the Bukit area and one of the most popular photography spots. The beautiful ocean vista offered by the cliff-top position is simply perfect for pre-wedding photoshoots, especially during the golden hours when the sunset comes in.

During the high tide, surfers all around Bali try to catch the legendary waves below. It’s a poetic and translucent location and offers a different vibe from other beaches on this list.

3. Nusa Dua Beach

As the center of Bali’s most luxurious five-star resorts, Nusa Dua beaches are usually less crowded and flawlessly clean. We recommend staying in one of the resorts so you won’t need a permit for a photo shoot on the adjoining beach.

Sunset and sunrise are the ideal times for a romantic session. Some of the resorts we recommend are a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, The Laguna, Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Melia Bali and Grand Hyatt Bali for their easy beach access.

4. Tegal Wangi Beach

A slightly hidden beach behind the popular AYANA Resort & Spa, Tegalwangi is famously known for being one of the best places to witness Bali’s sunset. The access is a little challenging due to the rocky and uneven road. Cactuses grow verdantly, so you might need to watch where you’re going.

We don’t recommend wearing long dresses when doing a pre-wedding photoshoot here. However, the promise of catching the perfect shot with a sunset view doesn’t discourage couples from visiting this beach for their pre-wedding photoshoot. Therefore, it can be a little crowded and create a queue.

5. Nyanyi Beach

This black-sanded gem in Canggu offers a breathtaking cliff-top sunset, making this beach one of Bali’s highlights for beach wedding photography. Besides its dramatic setting, the black sand also perfectly reflects the light.

Nyanyi beach tends to be quiet and less touristy, which means it’s the perfect place for shy couples who would instead do the shoots without the entire beach staring at them. Just remember to watch the occasionally unpredictable waves, especially if you’re doing the shoot close to the water.

6. Mengening Beach

Located close to the famous Tanah Lot Temple, Mengenang beach in Mengzi is the best place for those looking to capture Tanah Lot’s ambience but without as much crowd.

There is a temple atop a massive coral boulder where couples can go right before the sunset to catch the perfect shot that features the black temple and the beautiful ocean beneath it. Due to the black sand, this place offers a cinematic quality and it’s one of the beaches we recommend visiting for a pre-wedding photoshoot.

7. Sanur Beach

Famously known as the world’s Morning, Sanur beach is Bali’s number one spot to catch the sunrise, which features picturesque settings like the wave breakers and the seaside pavilions at the top.

If you’re a morning person, you’ll find an abundance of nice-looking backgrounds, like the local fisherman sailing off to seek their catch of the day and the traditional colorful boats known as jukung. The beach is probably the most accessible one on this list, so you won’t have any problem switching between wardrobes in Sanur beach.

8. Suluban Beach

This is one of those beaches that is challenging to access. But once you get through the short flight of steep rock stairs, Suluban beach is made worth your while. It has an incredible sight of natural rock pools scattered around the beach and stretches far out in the ocean.

How the sunlight blesses this beach from all the right angles makes it a top recommendation for a pre-wedding photoshoot location.

Whether you’re taking pictures by the stairs under the caves (which look like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean) or a photo shoot by the beautiful rock formations, Suluban beach will always offer that beach vibe. This beach is just different (and magical) compared to other beaches for pre-wedding photo shoots.
