In this article, we’ll look at the romantic restaurants you should visit in Canggu.

Lunch or Dinner at Canggu Restaurants

There’s no denying that Canggu is Bali’s epicenter of café culture and there is an endless choice of epic restaurants. However, with more and more popping up every week on the island’s surfing suburbs, it can be challenging to find out which one you should go to. So, where should we start?

Remember to bring a big appetite and your best dress because Canggu’s most romantic restaurants know how to cook up sizzling dinner and a fantastic date night. Here are our top 6 romantic restaurants in Canggu:

1. The Lawn – Best Bites at the Beachfront

This restaurant offers front-row seats to the world-famous Batu Bolong beach with its waves, infinity pool and black sands and crowds of people relaxing under their beach umbrellas. If you’re into oceanfront gazing in Bali, it doesn’t get much better than at The Lawn, and we haven’t even talked about the food yet.

The menu at this chill beach club revolves around gourmet nibbling and sharing. Starting from sweetcorn and Manchego fritters, zucchini arancini, and salt and pepper squids to chicken wings and everything in between. You can try out the entire menu here and munch your way while enjoying the laid-back Bali vibes. And to add the cherry on top, there’s also an excellent list of infused cocktails to wash all the delicious bites down. The Lawn is a must-visit if you’re around Canggu, especially when the golden hour starts to set.

2. Mason – Excellent Menu for Romantic Nights

This is the perfect place if you’re looking for a casual honeymoon night yet still offers some uber-cool vibes. Mason is all about the best meats, cheeses, veggies and gourmet dips done right, all homemade and served only so you can taste the rich flavors.

Mason also provides superb cocktails within a stylish and open-air atmosphere. We recommend going through the share starting menu to get the taste of Mason’s essentials (the homemade hummus, smoked dip tuna and halloumi are on the next level!). Then, get into the wood-fired barramundi with barbecued ribeye or ricotta in a pastry.

3. Alma Tapas Bar

It’s a neighborhood and epic dating spot that lets you untie your hair and indulge in some of the finest booze and grub. The Alma Tapas Bar offers wholesome shared plates, artisan cocktails and refreshing sangria. We guarantee that you’ll want to come back and try out all of Alma’s menus!

Try out the Spanish paradise with its fantastic mouth-watering menu that includes pancetta (pork belly with Canarian mojo sauce), calamari Relleno (squid stuffed with pork belly, chorizo, onions and apples) and tartar de remolacha (beetroot tartare with blue cheese sauce and avocado). You can also add their collection of house wines to top it all off!

4. Touché

This stylish café at Pererenan road will instantly give you the Seminyak feel, and it’s a minute walk from the beach. Touché has dreamy island-chic interiors that match its urban-style dishes. It’s the place where you’ll find the finest coconut milk lattes over a dish of truffle gnocchi and tuna salad.

Suitable for a classy breakfast, lunch and tapas, the menu starts from souffle pancakes to baked creamy camembert and finishes it off with their Mediterranean-inspired mains. Touché is also the main perch to look at Pererenan life, where we recommend you get an iced double espresso in the afternoon while watching life go by.

5. Santanera

This sleek, stylish restaurant fuses Latin-American cuisine with other continents and cultures. Santanera dishes up contemporary tapas plates for swapping and sharing and is located in Jalan Tanah Barak, Canggu.

The organic, farm-to-plate production is the main focus here, and so is the massive spiral staircase that takes you from the spacious and bright lounges to the rooftop where you can enjoy the ocean breeze. Indulge in the smoked, marinated and whipped delicacies and feast on chargrilled octopus, Hamachi ceviche, Jamon Iberico and salt-crusted beef tenderloin. Take a sip on their sunset aperitivo and a bottle of fine wine to top it all off.

6. Luma

This restaurant is a collaborative result of two award-winning chefs: Cameron Emirali from London’s 10 Greek Street and Kieran Morland of Seminyak’s Sangsaka and Merah Putih. Luma is a big name in the Mediterranean dish space where all their menu revolves around rustic dishes, combining Southern Europe’s traditions with Bali’s indigenous ingredients.

Our top picks here are the seaweed-wrapped prawns, grilled octopus with orzo, batik lobster risotto and squid ink aioli. However, the highlight here is the charcoal grill and the see-through, custom-made wood fire oven, which takes center stage in the magnificent Luma kitchen. And of course, they have a collection of curated wine lists that’s second-to-none, while the list of cocktails also follows the lead menu with local ingredients for an additional twist on the classics.
